Hannah Gason’s art practice is an exploration of the subtle changes and rhythms of the every day, such as gradual shifts in light and repeating patterns. Through the use of kiln forming processes, each work is made up of unique glass tiles that contain fluidity and variations of tonal intensity. The tiles are carefully arranged to form the larger plane, a flat surface that projects movement and depth. The result is a series of horizontal and vertical bands, that seemingly overlap, sliding back and forth over each other in a constant shuffle.
Hannah graduated from the ANU School of Art and in 2015 with a Bachelor of Visual Arts with Honours and was awarded a University Medal. Hannah has been an artist in residence at the Bullseye Glass Company, a visiting artist at Berlin Glas, a teaching assistant at the Corning Museum of Glass and participant at North Lands Creative Glass in Scotland. Working from her studio at the Canberra Glassworks, Hannah has exhibited nationally and internationally, with work housed in the Australian Parliament House Art Collection, the Australian National Art Glass Collection and the ANU Art Collection.
Hannah lives and works on Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country.
